Becker 3rd/4thGrade Basketball Overview
In accordance with the mission statement of Becker Youth Basketball, the In-House Basketball League for girls and boys in 3rd and 4th grades is “to provide an opportunity for all interested players to participate in an organized, competitive program focused on skill development, teamwork, and fostering a life-long love of the game while representing Becker in a positive fashion.”
Our goal is to create Better Players, Better People, and to become a Better Program.
Becker 3rd and 4th Grade Basketball is open to all students that live in the Becker School District. The program is intended to be a transition from the Legacy Basketball program that is now offered to 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls and is designed to prepare all players for introduction into the “travel” basketball program.
Below is a description for each part of the program:

The parent meeting will be on Monday, October 23rd in the “Old Auditorium” in the Becker High School. Check in will be from 5:00 – 5:30 and the parent meeting will be from 5:30 – 6:30. The first five Saturday mornings are what we call the “In-House” portion of the program. All 3rd and 4th graders attend.
The first hour are skill stations where coaches will be teaching and allowing kid’s to work on skills and fundamentals. Fundamental stations will include: Ball handling, shooting, finishing, defense, passing, and basic understanding of the game rules will all be covered each week.
The second part of the morning from 11:15-12:30, the kids will be competing against one another (girls vs girls and boys vs boys) in 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 games. This allows kids to learn the rules of the game, while still competing, but in a more controlled environment. Players will be put on a team and will have a coach assigned to their team. Games will be officiated and scores will be kept.
The dates for these Saturday’s are:
November 4, November 11, November 18, December 2, December 9 (potential scrimmage day), December 16
